Nymphoplasty – Labialplasty

Nymphoplasty – Labiaplasty

Dr. Ouakil offers aesthetic surgery for the external intimate parts of women. Nymphoplasty (labiaplasty) is a surgical procedure for reducing the labia minora, providing greater comfort during sexual intercourse, sports, and while dressing. It also has an aesthetic function of enhancing the female genitalia.

Increasingly requested, surgery for women's intimate areas has become a common procedure. Its psychological and physical impact on self-image is significant.

What is the principle of nymphoplasty?

Nymphoplasty is aimed at patients with hypertrophy of the labia minora. These may permanently extend beyond the labia majora and can cause pulling or painful contact, sometimes to an extreme degree, creating a genuine handicap. Surgical reduction with plastic and anatomical remodeling that preserves a natural, aesthetic, and sensitive shape improves comfort.

Candidates for nymphoplasty

All women suffering from:

  • Discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • Mechanical discomfort in daily life (sports, dressing)
  • Social and psychological discomfort

How does hospitalization proceed?

Usually performed on an outpatient basis, the stay lasts between 8 and 12 hours. The operation is done under local anesthesia with sedation (light general anesthesia). Current techniques respect the free edge of the labia minora and remove an appropriate excess, resulting in an imperceptible scar. The stitches are absorbable.

Social security coverage

This procedure, when related to a disabling discomfort, may be partially covered. Additional fees may apply and are partially covered by the mutual insurance depending on the contract.

Pain and postoperative follow-up

The procedure is somewhat painful and requires about 3 days off work. Pain relief medications are prescribed. Certain activities (sports, straddling positions) are prohibited for 4 weeks.

The follow-up is straightforward; possible complication: suture dehiscence (more frequent at the mucosal level). Quitting smoking one month prior is essential. A temporary decrease in local sensitivity may occur, most often transient.

Resumption of activities

The dressing consists of a simple intimate protection for 10 days. Hygiene is allowed from the first day with careful drying. Resumption of sexual and sports activities is permitted after 6 weeks (with control). During this time, avoid tight clothing and ensure good hygiene.

Results of nymphoplasty

A follow-up visit at 1 month is standard. This is a relatively simple intimate procedure, offering a very high satisfaction rate. It helps eliminate a complex that can be very inhibiting and restores comfort in sexuality, daily life, and sports.
